Abstract

The Metalycaeus species of the Himalaya and Myanmar are revised. Five new species are described: Dicharax zayai Páll-Gergely & Meng sp. nov., Metalycaeus gittenbergeri Páll-Gergely & Aravind sp. nov., M. tuyae Páll-Gergely & Meng sp. nov., M. kempi Páll-Gergely & Aravind sp. nov. and Metalycaeus adiorum Páll-Gergely & Aravind sp. nov. Ten taxa are moved to synonymy: Alycaeus macgregori Godwin-Austen, 1914 and A. burtii var. yetayensis Godwin-Austen, 1914 are synonyms of M. bhutanensis (Godwin-Austen, 1914); A. luyorensis Godwin-Austen, 1914 is a synonym of M. dikrangensis (Godwin-Austen, 1914); A. lohitensis Godwin-Austen, 1914 is a synonym of Metalycaeus brahma (Godwin-Austen, 1886); M. karmademaae Gittenberger, Choki Gyeltshen & Kezang Tobgay, 2024 is a synonym of M. crenulatus (Benson, 1859); A. subinflatus Godwin-Austen, 1914 and A. varius Godwin-Austen, 1914 (replacement name: M. suhajdai Páll-Gergely, 2020) are synonyms of M. beddomei (Godwin-Austen, 1914); A. toruputuensis Godwin-Austen, 1914 is a synonym of M. mundulus (Godwin-Austen, 1914); and A. polygonoma Blanford, 1862 and A. neglectus Godwin-Austen, 1914 are synonyms of M. stylifer (Benson, 1857). A neotype is designated for Dicharax zayuensis (Zhang, Chen & Zhou, 2008).
